HDMA Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Measures

HDMA members play a critical role in ensuring that vital healthcare products are accessible and available to healthcare providers throughout the United States. Due to their unique expertise and experience in the pharmaceutical supply chain system, HDMA member distributors are able to distribute products to hospitals, pharmacies, physicians and other stakeholders in all 50 states, U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia. The ability of HDMA primary pharmaceutical distributors to deliver medications efficiently and safely is critical to maintaining the health and welfare of patients throughout the country. Their expertise is especially important in the event of a possible future outbreak of pandemic influenza. The impact of such a potentially catastrophic event on our country could profoundly affect a number of crucial aspects of our society’s infrastructure, including transportation, commerce, healthcare, the nation’s workforce, the economy, and our commercial manufacturing and distribution systems.

The ability to deliver life saving medications safely and efficiently would be critical in the event of a pandemic influenza outbreak. HDMA member distributors stand ready to offer their unique services, resources, and expertise to state public health officials and other government officials to implement pandemic flu emergency preparedness planning procedures and services. The first step in making these services available is the ability to contact our distributor members. The weblink located below contains a contact information list for HDMA members  interested in offering distribution services to government officials on the federal, state and local levels. The list contains basic contact information, such as distributor representatives’ names, telephone numbers, office addresses and e-mail addresses necessary to initiate preliminary discussions about pandemic emergency preparedness planning. The contact form also identifies HDMA members who offer distribution services across the country, by state.

Please contact the Government Affairs department at (703) 885-0239 if you have questions regarding the member contact list.
